2012 Wicks Estate Adelaide Hills Shiraz

2012 Wicks Estate Shiraz, Adelaide Hills (screwcap): 14.5% alc. Dark to inky red/purple. This smells as dark and seductive as it looks, full of black cherry, earth, mocha and Earl Grey tea, something more like McLaren Vale than from the cooler Adelaide Hills. The palate’s just as good, medium to full weight and full of spicy black fruits, ripe black tea tannins through it’s impressive length, finishing with that same hint of Earl Grey tea as the nose, although with breathing there’s more obvious minty alcohol warmth on the finish. All up this is a very attractive wine, a lot of bang for less than twenty bucks.
