2010 Koonowla Clare Valley Shiraz

2010 Koonowla Shiraz, Clare Valley (screwcap): 14.5% alc. Medium to very dark crimson/red. Sweet and smoky nose, milk chocolate, dark cherries, smoked meats and cedar with a touch of minty lift; the entry of the palate is surprisingly tart in comparison which flows though to the mid-palate which is just over medium-weight, and the solid if unspectacular finish. It’s very much what I would call typically ‘Clare' in style: it’s very dry, reserved but well balanced, it will probably age a few years too but it’s no blockbuster, not now, not ever.
