2012 Dolan Family Wines Shiraz Grenache Mataro

2012 Dolan Family Wines Shiraz Grenache Mataro, Barossa Valley (screwcap): 14% alc. 65% Shiraz, 25% Grenache, 10% Mataro. Medium to almost dark purple/red. Despite being Shiraz-dominant it’s the Grenache that seems to take the lead, fruit sweet with red and black jellies and black tea. The palate’s spicy, medium-weight at most with a little warmth mid-palate, finishing slender but extremely long, with black tea tannins that thicken with time, demanding food. As much as I like it now, a few years in the cellar is a must.
