Sydney - (Surrey Hills) - Alio - LIC & BYO

Cuisine: Italian

Service: friendly cafe style service. Sometimes over the top. Definately not for a romantic night. Poured my wine with sediment into the decanter within 5 seconds. What was the point to place the candle under?

Food: very good! lots of varieties. pasta seemed not home-made but enjoyable. Loved the snail, which was the special on the night.

Value: $65 5- course degustation. great value.

Ambience: good. bit noisy. again, but for romantic occasion.

Glassware: okay

Wine list: not sure BYOed on the night.

BYO details: $7 per bottle/head??

They've done this before. Seems vindictive, tipping a bottle upside down into a decanter, and yet they don't like people to do anything themselves.

We were there some time ago and I definately got a greasy look when producing a bottle of wine. The waiter looked down her nose at me, took the bottle in a huff and used the "reverse audouze" method to decant it.
