THE Wine Underground, the Pirie St restaurant rebuilt after it was destroyed in an explosion in 2006, has closed with debts of more than $2.7 million.

More than 100 creditors, including many local wine and food companies, look set to lose amounts ranging from a few hundred dollars up to $20,000. Staff are owed nearly $4000.

Ian,

Disappointed to hear this. I'm normally in Melbourne, but last went there for a work function a few years ago. Unfortunately the service that night was appalling. Nevertheless, Adelaide or anywhere else for that matter could do with some more "Wine Undergrounds".

It can be areal problem for the industry though. My brother who is an Adelaide Hills producer, suffered from the Bilsons collapse in Sydney, owed money etc.
